Our safeguarding policy

Climber safety is our number one priority. Everyone who visits HAPIK, and everyone who works here, shares responsibility for keeping our centers safe, respectful and fun.

Our commitments

  • All climbing is on automatic belays with a clipping system that keeps climbers attached. Ropes courses use a continuous lifeline.
  • Every session starts with a safety briefing. Team members are in the climbing arena at all times and are trained in assist and rescue procedures.
  • Equipment is inspected daily, weekly, monthly and annually.
  • Every HAPIK team member who works with children passes state, national and local background checks and completes abuse prevention training when hired and every year after that.
  • Our team members are never alone with a child out of public view, and they never contact children through personal phones or social media.
  • All HAPIK staff are required to report any suspected child abuse.

Guest Code of Conduct

Everyone at HAPIK must:

  • Have a valid signed waiver. Guests under 18 need a waiver signed by their parent, legal guardian or someone with power of attorney. By signing for a child, you confirm you have the authority to do so and accept responsibility for that child's participation.
  • Follow all posted rules and team member instructions, and attend the safety briefing before climbing.
  • Supervise their children. Parents and legal guardians are responsible for their children in the facility, except in staff-supervised programs such as drop-off sessions, homeschool sessions, camps and the academy.
  • Treat other guests and our team with respect.

The following are not allowed at HAPIK: rough-housing or horseplay; climbing under the influence of alcohol or drugs; bullying, harassment, threats, violence or discriminatory language; any inappropriate contact with or behavior toward a child; filming or photographing other people's children on purpose, or after being asked to stop; and weapons of any kind.

Breaking these rules may lead to removal from an activity, removal from the center without a refund, or a ban from all HAPIK centers.

Guests may appeal a ban in writing within 7 days.

The rules for each activity are posted at that activity.

Report a concern

If a child is in immediate danger, call 911. To report a concern about a child's safety, inappropriate behavior, bullying, harassment or a safety issue, complete our Report a Concern form. Reports go to HAPIK's HR team and are reviewed within 72 hours. You can report anonymously.
